March Madness is here, and we couldn’t be more excited! One of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events is finally underway, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the action. The energy, the surprises, and the unforgettable moments make this tournament a must-watch.

For basketball fans, March Madness is the pinnacle of the season—a time when anything can happen. The NCAA tournament brings together the nation’s best teams for an exhilarating run toward the championship, filled with buzzer-beaters, upsets, and edge-of-your-seat moments. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or someone who simply enjoys the excitement, there’s no denying the thrill that comes with each game.

This year, the excitement doesn’t end with the first rounds. The Final Four for both the men’s and women’s tournaments are set to take place in two iconic cities: San Antonio and Tampa. These cities will be buzzing with energy as the nation’s best teams battle it out for a spot in the championship game. It’s a perfect opportunity to be part of the March Madness experience in a way that will stay with you forever. Whether you’re cheering on your favorite team or just soaking in the electric atmosphere, the Final Four is the ultimate event for any basketball fan.

We’re also incredibly grateful to be partnered with some amazing schools throughout the tournament. These partnerships allow us to connect you with your favorite teams and create opportunities for you to show your support in ways that go beyond just watching from home. Whether you’re cheering for your alma mater or rooting for an underdog, there’s something special about being part of the March Madness experience in person.

And it’s not just about the basketball! March Madness is about the camaraderie, the shared excitement with fellow fans, and the unique vibe of the tournament cities. Each stop on the journey offers the chance to explore new places, enjoy local culture, and meet passionate sports enthusiasts. From the pregame celebrations to postgame reactions, the entire experience is a celebration of what makes sports so special—unity, excitement, and competition.

Whether you’re traveling with friends, family, or fellow fans, this is the perfect opportunity to create memories that will last long after the final buzzer sounds.

Let’s make this March one to remember!

Kicking Off CFB: LSU Traveling Tigers Vegas Kickoff Classic, August 30

While the outcome wasn’t what we wanted for our Traveling Tigers, we had a wonderful weekend full of fun tailgates and celebrations! With over 500 guests in attendance, there was no better way for us to kick off the new season.

Looking Forward – Football, Football, & More Football!

Packing For September

In the meantime, we’re always planning ahead, so contact us today with any inquiries for custom tours or fan travel in the future. Now that the summer is coming to a close, college football season is finally upon us! Saturdays are sacred this time of year, and we can’t wait for countless tailgates, nail-biting fourth quarters, and the electric kind of atmosphere that only college football can provide. Not to mention, this year’s season has the potential to reshape the landscape of college football for years to come with the introduction of the 12-team playoff.

A New Playoff

It’s no secret that the four-team playoff system has been debated for years. Many have felt like it left out some deserving teams and limited the potential for a lot of talented programs. Whether it be because of the lack of fairness or the untapped excitement, the four-team playoff is a thing of the past, at least for now. Enter the 12-team playoff! While this change brings a lot of uncertainty, it will undoubtedly also bring some new excitement and drama into the 2024 playoff and bowl season.

With this new system, the top four conference champions will receive first-round byes, while the eight remaining teams will play in the first round. This first round will already be making college football history, as each game will be played at the higher seed’s home field (for the first time ever in CFB)! This new layer of intensity is one we’re eager to see play out.

More Teams, More Possibilities, More Hope

While this new playoff system will certainly shake things up, it might prove to be more fulfilling for teams and spectators alike. After all, it’s an opportunity for more teams to compete and strive for a national championship. Before, there were only a handful of teams who could realistically aspire to make the playoffs, but now, more teams are setting their sights on postseason possibilities. This opens the door for some potential upsets and unpredictable outcomes – two things that keep college football fans on their toes!

The 12-team playoff may even create stronger fan bases. Conference championships and rivalry games will be even more energetic than before, and every game nearing the postseason will matter. Now that more fan bases will feel like their team has a shot at the playoffs, we might be seeing some higher stakes and more passionate fans (as if we don’t already have enough of those).

Unique Fan Travel Opportunities

With more engaged fan bases and the addition of on-campus playoff games, this upcoming season offers more fan travel opportunities than ever before. The season ahead holds a lot of unknowns, but it’s likely that some teams may be making playoff appearances for the first time ever! No die-hard fan is going to miss that.

At SET, we specialize in crafting these kinds of unique fan travel experiences. We handle all the details so you can focus on cheering for your distinctive team. As the 2024 season starts, we’re excited to host our university travel partners on the road, and we can’t wait to see what this new playoff season brings with fan travel. After all, college football is evolving, and the journey to the trophy just got a whole lot more interesting!

As we get SET for the season, we want to share our appreciation and wish all of our university partners good luck. We’ll see you at a stadium near you!

For the month of July, our team at SET made great strides in setting us up for success as the busy fall season inches forward! With lots of preparations, meetings, and a little bit of fun, we’re more than excited for August and the rest of the 2024 event season! Let’s unpack some of our happenings in July and get ready for what’s to come.

SET Staff Summer Gathering, July 22-23

While the month of July may have been quiet on the event side, our team was hard at work behind the scenes! Towards the end of the month, everyone traveled to our headquarters in Indianapolis for a few days of meetings on strategy, planning, and education, all to ensure that we provide unmatched event experiences in the months ahead. All that being said, we still made time for a little bit of fun! We worked on our golf swing at Back Nine and beat the summer heat inside with duckpin bowling. We kicked the week off with some productive meetings and a little healthy competition to finish it off!

Looking Forward – LSU Traveling Tigers Vegas Kickoff Classic, August 30

Looking ahead, our team is eagerly anticipating the kickoff of the 2024 college football season, and what better place to celebrate than Las Vegas! We can’t wait for a weekend stay at the Mandalay Bay Resort and event activities at the Las Vegas House of Blues. With well over 300 LSU guests joining us, we’re excited for a weekend filled with tailgating and cheering on one of our incredible university partners. Geaux Tigers!

St. Louis INDYCAR Bommarito 500, August 17

On August 17, the 8th Annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 INDYCAR Series race returns to World Wide Technology Raceway, and our SET staff and guests will be there! We’re hosting an exclusive round-trip motor coach tour so our INDYCAR fans can travel in style. This package is designed to provide a seamless and thrilling experience for racing enthusiasts, and we’re thrilled to have it in our summer lineup!

As an exciting weekend of exceptional competition comes to a close, we want to recap this captivating tournament and all its rich history and prestige. The Open Championship draws an audience worldwide, and there’s a clear reason why.

The History of The Open Championship

The Open Championship, often referred to simply as “The Open,” stands as golf’s oldest major championship, dating back to 1860! This prestigious tournament has a storied history of showcasing the world’s top golfers on iconic courses throughout the United Kingdom. The Open Championship has consistently defined excellence in the sport, producing legendary moments and esteemed champions who have made their mark on golfing history. Not to mention, the tournament is known for its unique blend of tradition and passion for the sport, the perfect kind of atmosphere to witness history in the making!

The Course: Royal Troon

While the The Open Championship is rich itself, the history doesn’t stop there. The Royal Troon Golf Club has hosted the British Open a number of times, dating back to 1923. This year’s tournament marks the 10th year of hosting, a fitting milestone for the occasion. While this course is traditionally designed with a gentle opening, the back nine is said to be among the toughest in the world. With that, this renowned course is known for staging numerous noteworthy moments throughout the history of The Open, and this year was certainly no exception!

Tournament Recap

Xander Schauffele wrapped up an exciting week at The 152nd Open with an impressive final-round score of 65 at Royal Troon, clinching his second major championship of the season. Schauffele ended the tournament at 9-under 275, finishing two strokes ahead of Justin Rose and Billy Horschel, and adding a claret jug to the Wanamaker Trophy he won earlier this year at the PGA Championship at Valhalla.

Celebrating the Champion

We certainly can’t forget to extend a congratulations! His outstanding performance and unwavering determination on the challenging Royal Troon course secured him the prestigious Claret Jug, further solidifying his place among golfing greats.

The 2024 British Open Championship was a celebration of golf’s rich heritage and a showcase of its future legends. Whether you followed as a dedicated enthusiast or a casual observer, this tournament offered unforgettable moments of excellence that embody the essence of golf.

From June 15 to June 20, 43 travelers from nine universities embarked on the Northeastern Historic Baseball Tour. One of the tour’s highlights was when a traveler caught a foul ball at a Yankees game, a moment that only added to the magic of the trip! The camaraderie among the travelers, coupled with the rich history and grandeur of the venues, made this tour an unforgettable journey through one of America’s fondest pastimes.

Pikes Peak Hill Climb, June 20-24

Packing For July

June was a month of celebration, adventure, and preparation at SET. As we look forward to July and the rest of the summer, we remain committed to delivering the best in fan travel experiences. Here’s to many more adventures, unforgettable memories, and continued success!

Memorial Day Weekend brought the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Sports & Entertainment Travel (SET) hosted guests from Oklahoma State University & Ohio State University to Indy for a 4 day, 3 night, up close look at the world’s largest single day sporting event.

For the tour, guests stayed at the wonderful Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites, located in the heart of downtown, which is walkable to many of the great restaurants Indy has to offer. We kicked off the weekend with a Welcome Reception at SILO Auto Club & Conservancy where the group was able to enjoy hors d’oeuvres & drinks and get to meet & mingle with drivers Santino Ferrucci, Jagger Jones & long-time crewman Corey Odenbrett.

SILO is a perfect venue for auto enthusiasts, as it offers guests the opportunity to walk around and view some of the most exotic & luxury automobiles in the world.

On Saturday morning, the group visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Upon arrival, they embarked on a private tour of the Dreyer Reinbold Racing Garage. This provided an up-close look at an IndyCar and offered insights into the inner workings of the car and team, as well as what it takes to participate in the Indianapolis 500.

Following a full-field autograph session, the drivers then go to Pit Lane for their Public Drivers Meeting, where they are given their start rings & receive final instructions and procedures for the race.

When the Drivers Meeting concluded, the group then went to a suite for a “Checkered Chat” with IndyCar Spotters, Logan Gomez & Dave Ramsey, and crewman Norm Hornitschek, where they walked through the biggest race in the world from their point of view. The group arrived to the race in style thanks to a Police Escort and were able to avoid waiting in traffic as 300,000+ race fans descended upon the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A minor rain delay pushed the start of the race back, but sunny skies brought a very action-packed race. In the end, Josef Newgarden was victorious – winning his second straight Indianapolis 500.
