What exactly does “land-only” mean for this package?
It covers everything in the tour except flights, airport transfers, and baggage handling to Lexington. You arrange (and pay for) your own transportation to and from the city, then SET takes over once you check into the hotel.
What’s actually included in the base price?
Four nights at the Lexington Marriott City Center, daily breakfast (Thursday–Saturday), a Wednesday welcome reception with an industry speaker, guided Thursday and Friday tours (Saddlebred Museum, a bourbon distillery, Keeneland, and select horse farms) with lunch both days, round-trip motor coach transfers to Churchill Downs on Derby Day, your Derby ticket, souvenirs, credentials, on-site SET hosts, and all taxes and gratuities.
Where do I actually sit at Churchill Downs?
The base package includes Starting Gate Courtyard seating (Sections 5–15), uncovered, padded grandstand-style seats with a full food-and-beverage menu and views of the starting line and final turn.
Can I upgrade my Derby seating?
Yes. Paid upgrades are available for an additional per-person fee: Clubhouse Box (Sections 111–113, uncovered), First Turn Reserved (Sections 2001–2013, covered), Starting Gate Box (Sections 323–325, covered), and a second Clubhouse Box tier (Sections 318–322, covered), ranging from roughly $200 to $1,600 more per person.
What are the pricing tiers by room occupancy?
Single $5,849, Double $4,999, Triple $4,749, Quad $4,599, and Child (12 and under, sharing with an adult) $3,049. Rooms max out at 4 adults or a mix of adults and children.
Is a triple or quad room actually bigger?
No, it’s the same physical room as a standard double, just booked for more guests. There typically aren’t extra separate beds, and a rollaway can be requested but isn’t guaranteed due to room size and fire code limits.
Are deposits refundable, and should I get travel insurance?
Deposits are non-refundable, so travel insurance is strongly recommended in case your plans change before Derby weekend.
When will I get my tour documents?
Typically two to three weeks before departure via USPS Priority Mail or FedEx, though tight-turnaround events may go out by email instead. Let your booking agent know if you’ll be away from your mailing address during that window.
What’s the day-by-day flow of the trip?
Wednesday is arrival and the welcome reception; Thursday covers the Saddlebred Museum and bourbon distillery tour; Friday is Keeneland and horse farm visits; Saturday is Derby Day at Churchill Downs; Sunday is checkout and departure. Note the itinerary is approximate and subject to change.
Can I book this trip for someone else?
Yes, enter the traveler’s name on the reservation, but you can use your own credit card and billing address to pay.
